12 January, when checking my Gmail, I was delighted when read this e-mail [9 January: Salam Tuan: Selak-selak Google, aku terjumpa mu punya blog dgn gambar yg hensem tu. Satu masa aku pernah juga cari2 mu di media sosial, tapi tak brp ingat nama penuh. Sekarang baru jumpa! Salam Jamal Hamzah Sungai Tua 1976].

I’ve been looking for all my buddies class-mates & school-mates a few years back. Last year, I was contacted by Azhar (Standard 1-4, Tok Jembal Primary School).

The only friends who I have still not found are from Bukit Mertajam High School (1981) & Institut Berakan (1983).

Jamal (or his name in SJJL was James) has added me to SJJL WhatsApp group. Thanks Jamal for this kind of reunion. I do hope that we can gather one day for sharing our life story…..

Sakinatul Aisyah 2014

   Finally, our eldest child, Sakinatul Aisyah has got the Offer Letter from USM. Since graduating from Dental College Malaysia in Pulau Pinang last December, we all waited for that. She has to report duty on this coming Sunday 2 March.

   Welcome to USM, my dear daughter! Beginning today 2nd March 2014, you are officially become a USM staff. Always be among the best staff in Dental Clinic, Hospital USM. Work with heart & be tolerant to everyone. Be dedicated, trustworthy, honest & kind….

Health Status

   October 2012 I underwent a rubber banding for my bleeding haemorrhoid. January 2014, the bleeding recurred. Then, again I have to undergo rubber banding for the second time. The surgeon in-charge has recommended me to go for a stapled haemorrhoidopexy. The date for this procedure would be on 11 March 2014 & a day before I must be warded for a patient management as usual. Deep down in my heart, I am afraid to undergo this kind of procedure but after some thought & advices from my big brother, beloved wife, relatives & friends, I think I should do it. During my visit to a Surgical Clinic, Hospital USM on 23 Feb., I have asked the surgeon A-Z regarding this procedure. He said normally this procedure is carried out on partial anaesthetic and the patient is given a sedative. It is not a real surgery (open up the cavity) but it just done through anus itself….

2013/2014

   The year of 2013 is about to leave us. Beginning tomorrow, we will live (insya-Allah) in a new year of 2014. 2013 is a year of success and failure to every one of us. It is also a year of happiness and sadness. Whatever it is, we should not give up our hope. May this new year of 2014 will bring us joyful and meaningful moments in our life.  We should face anything with a positive mind and take a positive action….

My Car

   After giving  a service to my family for 13 years, 1 month & 3 days, finally my Proton Wira DAH6769 has said a good bye to us a day before yesterday (15 July 2013, 5.55 p.m.). Now, come a turn for Proton Preve’ to service us (starting 23 June 2013).

   I was personally sad to part from this Proton Wira.  There were so many sweet and  bad memories I gone through with this Proton Wira. Everything that comes must go one day whether we like it or not. Our new Preve’ has a Terengganu plate number which is TBK8648….

Radiation Exposure & Contamination Rate in Patient Receiving Radioiodine (I-131) Treatment

     To determine the radiation exposure & contamination rate of patients 

      receiving radioiodine (I-131) treatment for thyroid cancer in HUSM.

     The patients were given a dose  of   80 – 150 mCi. The radiation exposure 

     was then measured at the chest and pelvic region of patients at the 

     difference distances (0.5, 1.0 & 1.5 m) and taken after 1 and 24 hours of 

     I-131 administration. The contamination rate was determined at patient’s skin 

     at the same distance as the exposure rate measurement.

     The radiation exposure of different dose ranging from 6–50 mR/h  for

      1-hour and 2–30 mR/h for 24-hour measurements. The contamination rate 

      was 0–48 cpm after 4 hours and 0–14 cpm after 10 hours. After 24 hours, 

      this value was 0–34 cpm.

     This finding (radiation exposure) complied with the Inverse Square Law 

      (exposure rate decreases by increasing the square of distance). The 

      contamination level in other hand depends on patient’s attitude towards 

      personal hygiene.
